The endorsement saga continues…
NET Investigations have revealed that D’banj will in a few weeks, be unveiled as the first ever brand ambassador for Etisalat as the telecommunication company is set to sign up the pop singer for a multi-million Naira endorsement deal.
A rep for the entertainer tells NET both parties are still in talks but is likely the deal pulls through. His new manager Tony Nwakolor is even more specific – telling our reporter an announcement will be made ‘when they are ready’.
‘When we are ready to make an announcement, we will make it‘, Tony Nwakolor told NET over the telephone.
Just like MTN, Etisalat has avoided signing brand ambassadors for many years. But a change in policy now appears inevitable, following the loss of their most notable brand model, ‘Saka’ to MTN in a mobile number portability coup that’s beyond shocking.
Banky W who is a Samsung ambassador, and Praiz,
who has just been signed by MTN have also done successful commercials
for Etisalat, with many saying the telecoms company missed a good
opportunity to secure endorsement deals with them.
As if to make up for it, sources say Etisalat is also looking at signing a few other acts. Top of the list is pop icon 2face Idibia.
Others like Ice Prince and Sasha have been mentioned although there are no confirmations for now.
